How the age calculation works

The calculator compares your date of birth to today's date and works out the exact difference in years, months, and days — correctly handling varying month lengths and leap years along the way. Unlike a simple "current year minus birth year" subtraction, it checks whether your birthday has already happened this year to make sure the year count is accurate right up to the day.

The "total days," "weeks," "hours," and "minutes" figures are calculated from the exact number of milliseconds between your birth date and the current moment, converted into each unit.

How the next-birthday countdown works

The calculator finds the next occurrence of your birth month and day — this year if it hasn't happened yet, or next year if it has already passed — and counts the days remaining until it arrives. The progress ring visualizes how far you are through your current "birthday year," filling up as your next birthday approaches.

Worked example

If you were born on March 15, 2000, and today is August 9, 2026, you'd be 26 years, 4 months, and 25 days old. Your next birthday would fall on March 15, 2027 — about 7 months away — and the calculator would also show your age in total days (roughly 9,650), weeks (roughly 1,378), and hours (roughly 231,600).
