Enter your bill amount and tip percentage, and optionally split it between people.
The Tip Calculator works out how much to tip on a bill, what your total comes to, and how much each person owes if you're splitting the bill with others. It's designed for the moment at the end of a meal when you want a quick, accurate answer without doing mental math at the table.

All three results — tip amount, total bill, and amount per person — update instantly as you adjust any value.
Tip amount = bill × (tip % ÷ 100). Total bill = bill + tip amount. Amount per person = total bill ÷ number of people.
A $64 bill with an 18% tip, split four ways: tip = 64 × 0.18 = $11.52, total = $75.52, and each person pays $18.88.
Tipping norms vary a lot by country and situation. As a rough guide for restaurant dining in the U.S.: 10% is considered low, 15% is standard, and 18–20% is generous for good service. For other services — delivery, salons, taxis, bartenders — norms differ, and in many countries outside North America, tipping is much less expected or even uncommon. This calculator simply does the math once you decide on a percentage that fits your situation.
The "per person" figure divides the total bill (including tip) evenly across everyone at the table. It doesn't account for people who ordered more or less than others — for itemized splitting, where each person pays for exactly what they ordered plus a proportional share of the tip, you'd need to divide individual items separately before applying a shared tip percentage.
Conventions differ, but many guides suggest tipping on the pre-tax subtotal. This calculator applies the tip percentage to whatever bill amount you enter, so you can choose to enter the pre-tax or post-tax figure depending on your preference.
This calculator assumes an even split across all diners. For uneven splits based on what each person ordered, you'll need to divide the itemized costs separately before adding each person's share of the tip.
