What is the PDF Page Rotator?

The PDF Page Rotator fixes pages that came out sideways or upside-down — a common problem with scanned documents. Upload your PDF, see every page as a thumbnail, and rotate any single page, a selected group, or the entire document, all before saving a corrected copy.

Everything happens locally in your browser — your file is never uploaded to a server, which makes it fast and private even for sensitive documents.

How to use it

  1. Drop your PDF onto the upload area, or click it to browse your device.
  2. Every page renders as a thumbnail so you can see its current orientation.
  3. To rotate a single page, use the ⟲ / ⟳ buttons directly beneath its thumbnail.
  4. To rotate several pages at once, click each page's checkmark to select it, then use "Rotate selected" in the toolbar above.
  5. Use "Select all" if every page needs the same rotation, like a whole document that was scanned sideways.
  6. Click Save rotated PDF and download the corrected file.

How rotation works

Each click of a rotate button turns the selected page(s) 90° in that direction. Click it again to keep rotating — two clicks give you 180° (upside-down fix), and three clicks give you 270°. The thumbnail updates instantly so you always see exactly how the final page will look before saving.

Rotating individual pages vs. the whole document

Scanned documents often have a mix of orientations — for example, a mostly upright report with one page that was fed into the scanner sideways. This tool handles both cases: rotate a single stray page back to normal without touching the rest of the document, or select every page and rotate them all together if the entire file came out sideways.

How it works technically

The tool renders a live preview of each page's current rotation directly in your browser. When you save, it applies the exact rotation angle you set to each page's rotation property in the underlying PDF structure — the page content itself is preserved exactly as it was, only the orientation it's displayed at changes, exactly the way rotation works in professional PDF software.

Common uses

  • Fixing scanned pages that came out sideways or upside-down
  • Correcting a phone-scanned document where a few pages were photographed at the wrong angle
  • Standardizing a document where some pages are portrait and others were rotated to landscape
  • Preparing a document for printing or presentation where orientation matters
  • Fixing a single stray page in an otherwise correctly oriented document

File size and privacy

Because rotation happens entirely on your device, there's no upload wait and no privacy risk. Very large files or a very high page count may take a little longer to render thumbnails for, depending on your device's available memory, since everything runs locally rather than on a remote server.

Frequently asked questions

Can I rotate just one page without affecting the rest?

Yes — the rotate buttons beneath each thumbnail only affect that individual page, leaving every other page exactly as it was.

Will rotating affect the quality of my pages?

No — rotation only changes the page's display orientation; the underlying text, images, and formatting are completely unchanged and lose no quality.

Can I rotate a password-protected PDF?

Password-protected files need to be unlocked first. Use the Unlock PDF tool to remove the password, then upload the unlocked file here.

What if I rotate a page by mistake?

Just keep clicking the rotate button on that page until it cycles back to the orientation you want — every click moves 90° further, so four clicks in the same direction returns a page to its original position.
