What is the Unlock PDF tool?

This is a deliberate trade-off: it guarantees the unlock works correctly and privately for any password-protected PDF, but the resulting file's text is no longer selectable or searchable the way it might have been in the original — each page becomes a sharp, high-resolution image of that page instead.

For most everyday uses — reading, printing, or sharing a document you already have the password for — this makes no visible difference. If you specifically need the unlocked file's text to remain selectable and searchable, that requires more advanced decryption than is currently possible fully client-side, and you may need a desktop PDF application for that particular need.
